The following notification has been received from Shropshire Council's Street Works Team:

I am writing to inform you of the upcoming first phase of Section 278 highway works on Much Wenlock Road, Buildwas, which are in connection with the new Benthall Grange housing development at the former Ironbridge power station site.

Newline Civil Engineering have been appointed by Harworth Group to undertake the Section 278 works and will be constructing a new signalised junction on A4169 Much Wenlock Road, which will form an entrance into to the new housing development.

The signalised junction will provide permanent access to the proposed development site. The Junction will be used by construction traffic, and eventually will be one of the main accesses to the development, which will help towards alleviating traffic build up on Buildwas Road once completed.

The scheme is due to commence from 7th October 2024 and will take approximately 25 weeks to complete, and for the majority of this period temporary multi-way traffic signals will be in place, which will allow the contractor Newline to construct the new signalised junction and undertake drainage and road realignment works, with new signage and street lighting also installed.

We have asked for a traffic management operative to be on site between the hours of 7:30 - 9:30 & 14:45 - 18:30 to manually control the temporary traffic signals.

An overnight road closure on Much Wenlock Road will be required for resurfacing at the end of the first phase of works, and further details will be provided once the dates for the closure have been confirmed.

Residents and affected businesses will be notified and advance warning signs will be erected on site two weeks prior to the works commencing.
